UK households using Freeview for TV entertainment are advised to check and retune their equipment due to recent channel changes. Freeview confirmed that some channels have been renamed and repositioned in the TV guide. While the changes are not extensive, performing a quick retune will ensure that TVs are updated.
According to Freeview, broadcasters are implementing changes to channels on May 20, 2026, and viewers are required to retune their TVs to keep their channel lineup and TV guide current.
Among the changes, Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 has been rebranded as Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been replaced by Great! TV +1. Additionally, Great! Movies is relocating from channel 61 to channel 62, with Great! TV +1 now occupying channel 61.
Freeview emphasized that channels are constantly evolving, with providers deciding to move, add, or remove channels. The platform aims to offer audiences a diverse and engaging content selection.
If viewers do not see the updates on their TV screens, manual retuning may be necessary. Instructions for retuning TVs include pressing the menu button on the remote control, selecting setup or installation options, and choosing a full retune or factory reset. Saving any new channels found during the scan process is also recommended.
For a seamless viewing experience, households are encouraged to ensure their TVs are retuned to enjoy the latest channel lineup.
