“Report: Big Mobile Networks Lag Behind in Customer Satisfaction”

A recent report by consumer group Which? revealed that the major mobile networks, including EE, Vodafone, Three, and O2, are falling behind smaller competitors in terms of overall performance. After surveying over 5,000 smartphone users nationwide, it was found that lesser-known networks excel in providing better value and customer service.

The study aimed to assess which providers meet customer expectations and which ones do not. Results indicated that the traditional “Big Four” are trailing behind many smaller rivals in terms of customer satisfaction and service quality.

Leading the rankings were Talkmobile, Tesco Mobile, Giffgaff, and SMARTY, while EE performed the best among the major providers, ranking ninth. Price was a significant factor, with customers on the Big Four paying an average of £16 monthly for a SIM-only plan compared to £9 for users on smaller networks.

Despite lower prices, smaller providers often use major networks’ infrastructure, offering comparable signal quality and services without the premium cost. Switching between networks is also easier than perceived, with some users able to switch in just 10 minutes.

One customer shared their experience of leaving O2 for SMARTY, saving around £200 annually due to lower costs. Natalie Hitchins, Head of Home Products and Services at Which?, emphasized that smaller providers consistently outperform larger firms in customer service and affordability, urging dissatisfied customers to consider switching for better value.

According to the full scores from Which?, Talkmobile led with 83%, followed by Tesco Mobile at 81%, Giffgaff and SMARTY at 79%, and Voxi at 79%. Major players like EE, Vodafone, O2, and Three scored lower in the rankings.
