Sky customers who enjoy movie marathons are in for a change as the TV provider prepares to consolidate its channel offerings. Sky has announced the merging of Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) with Sky Cinema Family, set to take effect on April 30. This move aims to streamline the service by creating a unified hub for family-friendly films on channel 304.
Following the transition, viewers can access a variety of beloved titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked in one convenient location. While this means one less channel, Sky assures that all content previously available on Sky Cinema Animation will still be accessible via Sky Cinema Family.
For fans of Sky Cinema Animation, there is a silver lining. Although the standalone channel will be discontinued, it will make a temporary comeback during school holidays to entertain kids. Sky has confirmed availability from July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.
In other news, Sky has ventured into the home security realm with the introduction of new smart devices. Customers can opt for a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime at £5 per month, along with a £15 upfront fee. The system boasts features like full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional functionalities, Sky offers a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ at £8 monthly and a £20 upfront charge. This bundle includes an indoor camera and extra app controls, such as scheduled arming and automatic device modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing access to premium smart technology. He highlighted Sky’s focus on delivering valued features in a user-friendly, manageable, and affordable manner.
