Fans at Harry Styles’ Together, Together tour have been caught up in a new trend of chanting the lyrics to 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Telephone Busy” during the instrumental break of Styles’ “Ready, Steady, Go” song. The phenomenon started with a fan-made remix on TikTok by user @millsberry75, which gained traction and caught the attention of 5 Seconds of Summer. The band incorporated the remix into their DJ set at Lollapalooza, and now fans are bringing it to Styles’ tour performances.
The history between One Direction, where Styles rose to fame, and 5 Seconds of Summer adds to the excitement of this trend. Starting as YouTube musicians, 5SOS gained exposure when One Direction member Louis Tomlinson shared their music online. The bands have since collaborated on tours, creating a strong connection between their fan bases.
5 Seconds of Summer has acknowledged the enthusiasm around the songs, with drummer Ashton Irwin appreciating fan videos of the trend. While Styles has not directly addressed the trend, the increasing volume of fans chanting “Telephone Busy” suggests he may soon acknowledge it. With more shows ahead, including performances at Madison Square Garden and Rogers Stadium, the trend shows no signs of slowing down. Fans are eagerly anticipating the continuation of this unique concert experience.
