Waitrose Recalls Bottled Water Over Glass Fragments

Waitrose is initiating a recall of bottles from one of its bottled water brands due to the potential presence of glass fragments, as stated by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in a warning issued today.

The FSA announced this evening that Waitrose is recalling its Waitrose No1 Deeside Mineral Water and Waitrose No1 Deeside Sparkling Water due to concerns about the possible presence of glass fragments when opening the bottles.

According to the agency, the affected batch codes for Deeside Mineral Water are NOV 2027 28, DEC 2027 01, DEC 2027 02, DEC 2027 10, DEC 2027 11, and DEC 2027 16. For Deeside Sparkling Water, the batch codes to be returned are DEC 2027 01, DEC 2027 03, DEC 2027 12, DEC 2027 15, and DEC 2027 25.

The FSA emphasized that these products could pose an injury risk due to potential glass contamination, making them unsafe for consumption. Consumers are advised to return the bottles to the store for a full refund.

In a separate incident, Waitrose had to recall the TINC Festive Santa Bottle last week for safety reasons. Additionally, the FSA previously issued a recall for Disaronno Originale 700ml by Illva Saronno S.p.A on December 10 due to the risk of glass shards in the product.

The affected Disaronno products had batch codes 25374, 25375, 25381, 25382, 25435, 25442, and 25444. Customers were urged not to drink the product, but to return it to the store of purchase for a refund or replacement.

Illva Saronno S.p.A was notified to display point-of-sale notices in retail stores regarding the recall and advised customers to contact them for further information at contatti@illva.com.
