Donald Trump has issued a strong caution to Iran, asserting that his administration is closely monitoring the situation and has deployed a fleet to the Middle East in response to ongoing protests. Speaking aboard Air Force One after a significant speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the US President emphasized the surveillance on Iran, including the dispatch of military vessels to the region.
“We have a significant flotilla heading in that direction. We’re keeping a close eye on them,” Trump stated. The US has mobilized F-15 Strike Eagles in Jordan and is bolstering its military presence, which will involve the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group moving towards Iran from the South China Sea, equipped with F-35 stealth fighters and destroyers.
Implying potential strikes on Tehran, Trump expressed hopes of avoiding conflict, stating, “maybe we won’t have to use it, we’ll see.” He also claimed personal responsibility for preventing the execution of 837 protesters by Tehran, condemning Iran’s methods as outdated and warning of severe consequences if such actions continue.
The escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf have seen the US deploy numerous military assets, with Trump indicating a readiness for further actions if necessary. He mentioned the acquisition of 25 additional B-2 bombers for possible future operations, highlighting their effectiveness in previous missions. Last year, Trump had ordered the bombing of Iranian nuclear sites using these bombers, resulting in significant damage to Iran’s program.
The situation remains tense in the region, with Trump’s administration closely monitoring developments and keeping all options on the table.
