Initially rumored to headline a fight on President Donald Trump’s front lawn against Michael Chandler on June 14, McGregor is now expected to compete the following month. The UFC’s CEO, Dana White, revealed the White House card on Saturday, featuring Ilia Topuria defending his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje in the main event.
Notably, Alex Pereira will move up to the heavyweight division to challenge Ciryl Gane for the interim belt in the co-main event. Despite not being included in the lineup, McGregor shared his support for the card on social media, describing it as “love it” and later stating it was “a great card.”
In earlier remarks, the former two-weight world champion mentioned his anticipation for a return to the cage but was unsure of the exact timing. McGregor had been prepared for a matchup against Chandler at the White House, expressing respect for his opponent and willingness to compete. However, plans seem to have shifted towards a potential appearance for McGregor at International Fight Week.
