Conor McGregor has officially announced that he will not be participating in the upcoming UFC event at the White House.
Initially rumored to headline the card on President Donald Trump’s front lawn against Michael Chandler on June 14, McGregor’s presence is now anticipated to be postponed to the following month. UFC CEO Dana White is set to reveal details of the White House event on Saturday night, with McGregor’s involvement likely delayed until July 11.
Speaking to Smash Cast, McGregor shared his insights on the situation, expressing his initial enthusiasm for the White House matchup against Chandler. However, plans have shifted, indicating a possible return for McGregor during the International Fight Week instead.
McGregor also disclosed his intention to compete in the welterweight division for his next bout, emphasizing his increased size and readiness to step back into the octagon. Despite ongoing negotiations, McGregor awaits a formal offer to solidify his next fight.
With McGregor out of the White House card equation, speculation arises around the potential headliner featuring Jon Jones’ comeback, possibly facing off against former middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who recently vacated his 205lb title.
