Their performance set a new track record of 1:59.36, with Weston overcoming a 0.30-second deficit from Stoecker’s run to win by 0.17 seconds.
This victory marked Weston’s second gold medal at the Olympics, a feat previously achieved only by two-time women’s skeleton winner Lizzy Yarnold. Team GB had a historic day with Charlotte Bankes and Huw Nightingale also clinching gold in the snowboard cross mixed team final, the nation’s first gold on snow rather than ice and the first time Team GB secured multiple gold medals at a single Winter Olympics.
For Stoecker, this triumph represented her first major world-level win after joining British Skeleton through the Discover Your Gold talent identification program seven years ago. Reflecting on the moment, Stoecker expressed her gratitude to Weston, emphasizing the teamwork that led to their success.
