“Sisters’ Birthday Celebration Turns Violent in Chester”

Two sisters, Charlotte, 34, and Katrina Whitham, 30, were caught on CCTV engaging in a violent assault on a 38-year-old woman in Chester, Cheshire. The incident occurred after a night of heavy drinking to celebrate Katrina’s birthday, where the sisters attacked their friend following an argument. The victim was left unconscious on the street after being punched, kneed, and having her hair pulled by the sisters.

The assault escalated as Charlotte slammed the victim to the ground and Katrina proceeded to punch her 23 times in the face. Passers-by intervened as Katrina attempted to break the victim’s arm by stomping on it and then stepped on her head. The sisters were apprehended and later sentenced to two years and eight months in jail at Chester Crown Court for causing actual bodily harm.

Both Charlotte and Katrina admitted guilt to the assault charges, with police swiftly locating them within 13 minutes of the incident. Despite initially denying involvement in the assault, Katrina was overheard confessing to the attack during her arrest. Charlotte remained silent during questioning and declined to view the CCTV footage of the assault.

The sisters eventually confessed to the offense on November 7, acknowledging their role in the assault. Detective Constable Tim Butler, who oversaw the investigation, condemned the violent act, emphasizing the severe consequences of resorting to violence. He expressed hope that the sisters would reflect on their actions while serving their sentences and understand the true meaning of friendship.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ramifications of impulsive violent behavior, particularly when fueled by alcohol. As a result of their actions, the Whitham sisters will be spending the upcoming Christmas away from their families.
