The individual responsible for the tragic accident involving Anthony Joshua may face charges for driving recklessly, as per reports from Nigeria. Officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps indicated that Joshua’s car was speeding and involved in dangerous overtaking maneuvers, which are serious violations of traffic laws and can lead to criminal prosecution when resulting in fatalities.
Investigators are currently preparing documentation for the Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division to determine the appropriate charges, with a focus on potential prosecution for causing death through dangerous or reckless driving.
It has been confirmed that Joshua sustained a leg fracture during the incident. While official statements are pending, the accident has reignited discussions on road safety and accountability in Nigeria, following the fatal crash that took the lives of two of Joshua’s companions on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Furthermore, it has been reported that the driver of the truck involved in the collision with Joshua’s vehicle is missing. Authorities are searching for the truck driver, as the vehicle was allegedly illegally parked on the highway and unattended at the time of the accident. The damaged truck has been secured with police tape.
A Nigerian police spokesperson mentioned that the truck was parked illegally and unattended during the crash. Joshua’s family has stated that he is currently responding well to treatment after the tragic incident.
Joshua, aged 36, is expected to continue receiving care at Duchess International Hospital in Lagos until the New Year, with his condition described as stable. While his mother remains by his side, other family members have not been permitted to visit him in the private hospital.
Following the crash that claimed the lives of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, Joshua expressed feeling pain all over his body. David Joshua, a relative, mentioned that Joshua is responding positively to treatment, although family visits have been restricted.
Sina and Latif, who were in the same side of the vehicle, are believed to have died instantly, while Joshua and another passenger were seated behind the driver during the collision.
