“CBC Scores Big with Expanded Curling Coverage”

CBC is expanding its coverage of Canadian curling through a newly announced five-year broadcast agreement with The Curling Group. This partnership will bring an extensive amount of television coverage to CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season, totaling over 300 hours.

One significant development is the inclusion of Rock League in CBC’s programming lineup. The professional curling league, which debuted in April, will return to CBC in January 2027. Fans can catch every game on CBC television and CBC Gem, with selected matches also airing on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.

Rock League comprises six mixed-gender teams featuring international curlers, and its upcoming season will feature competitions on various weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.

In addition to Rock League, CBC will play a more prominent role in the coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet remains the primary broadcaster for the five Grand Slam events, beginning in October. The broadcast schedule includes three draws per day from Tuesday to Friday, with CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. The championship finals on Sundays will be broadcast by Sportsnet, with CBC also airing select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will be available for streaming on Rock Channel.

The new agreement underscores CBC’s rich history of curling coverage and enhances its presence in major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide.

The collaboration between CBC and The Curling Group aims to expand the reach of both the Grand Slam and Rock League to a broader national audience. Nic Sulsky, CEO and co-founder of The Curling Group, described the agreements as a pivotal moment for the sport.

Canadian viewers can look forward to more extensive coverage of Grand Slam playoff weekends and the second season of Rock League on CBC over the next five years.
