A tragic incident unfolded as a 12-year-old girl carried out a planned shooting on her father before taking her own life. Emma Brown shot her father, Daniel Brown, in the stomach at their residence in Poolville, Texas, on September 20, 2022. While the father survived the attack, Emma succumbed to her self-inflicted gunshot wound two days later in the hospital.
A disturbing photograph emerged showing Emma and her father posing with rifles and handguns on a table filled with ammunition. Following this photo, Emma executed her heinous plan, which also involved the planned killings of her entire family and pets.
The elaborate scheme was devised by Emma and another 12-year-old girl from Lufkin, Texas, although the details of their acquaintance remained unclear. The two girls had plotted to flee to Georgia together. The Parker County District Attorney’s office confirmed that the unidentified accomplice was charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Authorities were alerted to the shooting after discovering Emma lying on the street with a gunshot wound to the head, and her father inside the house with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Investigations revealed that Emma had meticulously planned the murders for weeks, in collaboration with the girl from Lufkin, who had also intended to harm her father but did not follow through.
After shooting her father, Emma walked a short distance down the driveway of their home before taking her own life. Emergency responders on the scene reported the tragic events, leading to the installation of a gate with a “No Trespassing” sign at the family’s residence.
An autopsy conducted by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Emma Brown’s death was ruled a suicide by a gunshot wound to the head. Her father, who survived the attack, was discharged from the hospital and is expected to recover fully.
