“Countryfile’s Adam Henson Anticipates Rare Foal Birth”

Adam Henson expresses his enthusiasm for the upcoming addition to his family farm park, describing it as “critically endangered.” Looking ahead to 2026, the Countryfile presenter shares his optimism for a more favorable climate following the extreme weather experienced in 2025.

Acknowledging the Met Office’s warnings about the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, Adam emphasizes the importance of farmers adapting to these changes by cultivating resilient crops. Despite the challenges posed by climate shifts, Adam eagerly anticipates a rare occurrence in 2026 at his 50-acre Cotswold Farm Park – the birth of a new, highly endangered animal.

In a recent article for BBC Countryfile Magazine, Adam reveals that his Suffolk Punch mare, Lexy, is pregnant and expected to give birth in May. The Suffolk Punch breed, along with other British heavy horse breeds, faces a critical endangerment status due to a significant decline in population over the years.

With fewer than 500 Suffolk Punch horses worldwide, including just 75 breeding females in the UK, Adam emphasizes the importance of ensuring a smooth and successful birth for Lexy. The impending arrival of the foal is eagerly awaited, as this breed is classified as “critically endangered” by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

Adam had previously shared Lexy’s pregnancy news earlier this year, building anticipation through social media updates and videos. As the due date approaches, Adam remains focused on ensuring a healthy outcome for both Lexy and her foal, highlighting the significance of preserving this rare and valuable breed.
