The state of Oregon in the United States recently experienced a confirmed magnitude 6 earthquake. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake struck at 7.25 pm local time on Thursday, January 15, approximately 183 miles from Bandon, Oregon. While residents along the Oregon coastline reported feeling tremors, no significant structural damage has been reported.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 295 km west of Bandon, Oregon, with a depth of around 10 km beneath the earth’s surface, as indicated by the USGS. Despite this seismic activity, no tsunami warning has been issued by the USGS at this time. However, there is a possibility of aftershocks being felt over the next week.
Following the earthquake confirmation, Oregon residents have been sharing their experiences on social media. Some individuals, such as a user from the base of the Cascades near Kings County and Mount Rainier National Park, did not feel the earthquake. Conversely, residents from Newberg and Eugene in Oregon reported feeling the tremors.
