“Surrey Council Launches £300 Supermarket Voucher Scheme”

Surrey County Council is rolling out a scheme to assist struggling households by offering free supermarket vouchers valued at £300. This initiative falls under the Household Support Fund, a fund designated for aiding vulnerable families and managed by local authorities.

Residents of Surrey County Council who are facing difficulties in affording food and essential items can apply for the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher scheme. The vouchers can be utilized at various supermarkets, such as Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose.

To be eligible for the scheme, individuals must be over 18 years old, reside in Surrey, maintain household savings of £2,000 or less over a 90-day period, and have an annual household income below £27,007.50 before taxes and deductions.

Applicants are required to disclose their income details and household benefits. Voucher applications are accepted on a monthly basis, with the upcoming round commencing on February 3. If the current application period is missed, reapplication is permitted from March 2.

Residents outside Surrey seeking similar support are advised to consult their local council for available assistance. For instance, Nottingham City Council is offering £100 vouchers to low-income individuals or benefit recipients, with 10,000 vouchers to be distributed randomly. Additionally, Wakefield Council is providing food vouchers to households on low incomes receiving council tax aid.

Notably, various councils are extending support through vouchers to financially challenged households. Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support have been allocated £70 vouchers, while families receiving Council Tax Support will receive £50 or £70 vouchers, depending on the specific criteria.

Moreover, Blackpool Council is disbursing £200 or £300 energy assistance to qualifying households based on the number of occupants. Eligible recipients must demonstrate financial hardship and submit recent bank statements for all household members to access the support.
