“Sky Launches Affordable Smart Home Plans in the UK”

Sky has introduced new smart home plans in the UK that include internet-connected cameras with cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month, providing stiff competition to popular devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. The company claims that their pricing could lead to savings of over £100 compared to purchasing a Ring system through Amazon.

There are two options available: the first plan offers a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month plus a £15 upfront fee. This package includes features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For customers seeking additional security, there is the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ priced at £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized that the goal of Sky Smart Home is to provide high-quality smart technology that is easy to use, simple to manage, and affordable for customers, making it effortless to stay connected to home.

Previously, Sky primarily offered Protect Smart Home Insurance, which bundled cameras and alarms. However, with the launch of these new plans, Sky’s home security devices are now available as standalone services for the first time, aiming to broaden their market reach.

In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with an additional cost for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
