A murder charge has been brought against a man following the death of a navy veteran during an altercation on Christmas Day. Harold David Turner was taken to the hospital after the incident at a residence in St Asaph, Denbighshire, and tragically passed away later that day.
Described as a former sailor who had served in London, Ireland, and Rhyl after his naval career, Harold, also known as Harry Turner, was fondly remembered by his family who expressed their deep sorrow at his loss.
In a court appearance at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court, James Hughes, aged 66 and residing in High Street, St Asaph, was formally charged with the murder of Mr. Turner. He is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear at Mold Crown Court on New Year’s Eve.
Following the incident, North Wales Police have self-referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct for investigation. Details regarding the referral remain undisclosed as the police continue their inquiries.
