A man in his thirties sustained life-altering injuries following a suspected stabbing incident that prompted a significant emergency reaction on a city street.
An air ambulance made a landing in a nearby park during the unfolding of the serious event on Cowick Street in Exeter. Authorities from Devon and Cornwall Police disclosed the apprehension of a 36-year-old individual from the city on charges of attempted murder.

In an official communique, Devon and Cornwall police announced the arrest of a 36-year-old Exeter resident on suspicion of attempted murder, with the individual currently in police custody.

Devon and Cornwall police relayed, “We are still present in the Cowick Street area of Exeter following reports of a serious assault at approximately 4:30 pm today (Tuesday, December 30).
“A male in his thirties was found in the locality with suspected stab wounds. He has been transported to a medical facility where his injuries are described as life-altering.
“Emergency services attended the scene to ensure public safety.
“Cordons are still established in the Cowick Street area, with a sustained police presence in this vicinity.”
The significant incident in Exeter has led to the establishment of cordons in the Cowick Street area, encompassing the road, Prospect Place, and Cowick Park.
Observers noted the landing of an air ambulance in St Thomas Park near the police perimeter.
Authorities have advised the public against approaching individuals displaying suspicious behavior in Exeter during this period.
An official statement cautioned, “If anyone observes suspicious conduct, we advise the public not to engage but to promptly contact law enforcement.”
Officers responded to reports of an assault around 4:30 pm. They are urging witnesses or anyone present in the Cowick Street vicinity from 4 pm onwards, or anyone who noticed anything unusual, to contact emergency services by dialing 999 and citing log number 492 of December 30, 2025.

The statement read, “One individual was located in the vicinity with a serious injury, and emergency services are on-site to ensure public safety. Cordons are in effect, including at Cowick Street, Prospect Place, and Cowick Park. Police units will remain in the area throughout the evening and overnight.”
A witness recounted, “There’s a substantial police and ambulance presence, with a helicopter in Cowick Street, Exeter. Five police cars, a police van, and an ambulance van were observed.”
