After being apprehended by American special forces in Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro has unexpectedly emerged as a fashion trendsetter. Following his capture by the US elite Delta Force and subsequent transfer to America, a photo was released showing Maduro on the USS Iwo Jima wearing a blindfold, ear protection, and a Nike Tech tracksuit.
The image of Maduro in US custody quickly led to a surge in sales of the Nike tracksuit he was seen wearing. The attire, consisting of a £109.99 Tech fleece top and £89.99 matching bottoms, known for its popularity among athletes and musicians, has now been dubbed the ‘Maduro fit’.
A meme generated by artificial intelligence featuring Maduro in the tracksuit with the iconic Nike tagline ‘Just Do It’ has gone viral, sparking humorous commentary online. Despite the initial attention to his stylish ensemble, Maduro was later spotted in New York donning all-black attire with socks and sliders, followed by orange overalls.
Appearing in court alongside his wife Cilia Flores, Maduro faced accusations of being a ‘narco-terrorist’ as they defiantly asserted their innocence. The charges included narco-terrorism conspiracy and cocaine importation conspiracy, with both Maduro and Flores entering pleas of ‘not guilty’.
Amidst the legal proceedings, it was revealed that at least 40 individuals, including civilians and military personnel, lost their lives during the nighttime military operation that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, a mission characterized as “dark and deadly” by President Trump.
