Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) senior adviser mentioned that the American military is not as strong as previously thought, following the U.S. and Israel’s attack on Iran earlier this year. Talks to resolve the conflict have hit a deadlock as an interim deal between the U.S. and Iran, aimed at ending the hostilities, is set to expire soon.
In a rare interview with PBS News Hour, Brig.-Gen. Mohammad Reza Naqdi, the supreme adviser to IRGC’s commander-in-chief, stated that Iran has not yet achieved its ultimate goal in the war. Naqdi expressed confidence in Iran’s current position, emphasizing that they have been successful so far and will continue to be victorious.
The ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran collapsed recently, leading to a series of strikes between the two nations. Naqdi highlighted that the prolonged conflict has provided valuable experience for Iran in understanding how to combat the U.S., revealing perceived weaknesses in the American military.
President Donald Trump reaffirmed the U.S.’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, asserting dominance in the region. The conflict in the Persian Gulf, initiated by the joint U.S. and Israel military campaign against Iran, has seen fluctuating rhetoric from Trump, oscillating between threats of escalation and promises of imminent peace.
