Season 2 of the widely popular hockey series Heated Rivalry on Crave will introduce two fresh faces to its cast.
Daniel Diemer, a Canadian actor recognized for his role as Tyson in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, will take on the character of hockey player Ryan Price. Joining him is Welsh actor Shaheen Jafargholi, known for his work in the HBO series War, who will portray musician Fabian Salah, Ryan’s love interest.
The duo plays the lead roles in the third installment of Rachel Reid’s acclaimed Game Changers series, titled Tough Guy. This novel narrates the journey of professional hockey enforcer Ryan, who, after being traded to the Toronto team, crosses paths with Fabian, an aspiring musician from his past. Their undeniable chemistry reignites old sparks, but pursuing a future together might require Ryan to make a tough decision regarding his hockey career.
Writer Jacob Tierney and producer Brendan Brady expressed their excitement about the addition of Daniel and Shaheen to the series, emphasizing the unique energy they bring to Reid’s world. They praised the actors for embodying the complexity and depth of their characters, stating their confidence and emotional authenticity would resonate with the audience.
The inaugural season of the show encompassed the first two books of Reid’s series, namely Game Changer and Heated Rivalry. The upcoming Season 2 of Heated Rivalry will continue the love story of Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, characters from Reid’s book The Long Game, with Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie reprising their roles.
Additionally, the upcoming season will incorporate the narratives of Troy Barrett, a hockey player traded to Ilya’s team, and Harris Dover, a social media manager, from the book series’ fifth installment, Role Model.
Crave revealed that Justice Smith will play Harris, and Charlie Gillespie, known for his role in Julie and the Phantoms, will portray Troy. The new cast members also include Emily Hampshire from Schitt’s Creek and drag queen Priyanka.
