Halle Berry refutes claims made by her former partner Olivier Martinez that she physically harmed their 13-year-old son, Maceo, amid their impending court hearing on October 16 regarding custody and a restraining order.
Martinez has requested full legal and physical custody of Maceo and a restraining order against Berry, citing an alleged violent incident on September 26 and a history of abuse, as per court documents obtained by CBC News.
A temporary restraining order was granted by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on October 1, limiting Berry’s parenting time and mandating her to stay 100 yards away from Martinez until the hearing. The judge dismissed Martinez’s plea for monitoring Berry’s sobriety due to insufficient evidence.
Berry has vehemently denied the accusations, labeling them as “completely untrue” and asserting that she has never mistreated Maceo. She characterized the September 26 episode as playful roughhousing that took a negative turn and is seeking the restoration of their equal custody agreement.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2013 and welcomed Maceo that same year, finalized their divorce in 2023 with a shared custody arrangement.
Amid the legal battle, Nahla, Berry’s daughter with ex-partner Gabriel Aubry, defended her mother in a declaration, stating she has never witnessed any form of physical abuse towards Maceo.
In response to Martinez’s claims, Berry’s legal team has disputed the allegations, highlighting past breaches of court orders and legal sanctions concerning their son’s welfare. Video evidence has been cited to contradict Martinez’s narrative.
Berry personally refuted the allegations in a declaration filed on October 5, recounting her version of the events on September 26. She emphasized her stance against domestic violence and reiterated her commitment to protecting her child.
