Nicola Golen found the back of the net two minutes into extra time, securing a 2-2 draw for Ottawa Rapid against AFC Toronto at TD Place on Sunday. Golen’s goal came in the 92nd minute, earning the league-leading Rapid an additional point in the standings. Melanie Forbes had also scored for Ottawa (10-2-3) in the 13th minute.
For third-place Toronto (7-4-4), Sarah Stratigakis and Shelina Zadorsky managed to respond with goals. The match saw both teams reduced to 10 players in the 63rd minute following red cards shown to Choo Hyojoo of the Rapid and Cloey Uddenberg of AFC Toronto.
In other news, it was announced earlier in the day that Ottawa’s TD Place will host the Northern Super League final on November 14.
