“Dolly Parton’s Lasting Legacy of Generosity Shines Bright”

Dolly Parton’s extensive record of charitable acts has been well-documented, but a heartfelt account from her sister sheds light on the deep-rooted nature of her generosity. Stella Parton shared a touching tribute on Instagram, recalling their tradition of early morning phone calls over coffee every Tuesday.

During one of their final conversations, Dolly expressed her willingness to undergo experimental medical treatment even if her situation seemed hopeless, with the intention of benefiting future patients. While CBC News reached out to Dolly Parton’s publicist for confirmation on her participation in experimental treatments towards the end of her life, no response has been received.

Although details on Dolly’s medical care remain unconfirmed, her notable contribution to the advancement of medical science is widely acknowledged. In November 2020, it was disclosed that she donated $1 million to Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center for COVID-19 research, including support for the development of the Moderna mRNA coronavirus vaccine.

When the time came for Dolly to receive her initial vaccine dose, she did so on camera, playfully singing modified lyrics to her hit song “Jolene.” Her dose was administered by Dr. Naji Abumrad, whom she first encountered at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2013 following a minor car accident. This encounter led to a lasting friendship, with Dr. Abumrad reportedly being present during Dolly’s final moments, as shared by his son in an opinion piece for the New York Times.

Stella Parton emphasized the genuine kindness and generosity that defined Dolly, stating that the world truly witnessed the iconic singer’s authentic character. She urged others to emulate Dolly’s example of making the world a better place through compassion and generosity.
