Former Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua Relocates to Dubai amid US-Iran Conflict

Anthony Joshua, the former heavyweight world champion, has surprised many by deciding to relocate from the United Kingdom to Dubai amidst the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran in the United Arab Emirates. Joshua, 36, who hails from Watford with Nigerian roots, achieved Olympic gold in the 2012 London games while representing Great Britain. Despite his strong ties to his home country, he is now officially making the UAE his residence, as revealed in documents submitted for his £150 million business empire.

The move by Joshua comes at a time when the UAE is facing attacks from Iranian suicide drones due to the escalating tensions in the region involving the USA, Israel, and Iran. Despite the turmoil, Joshua proceeded with his plans to change his residential status. The recent hostilities have prompted a significant exodus of over 100,000 Britons from the Middle East back to the UK.

Dubai, known for its favorable weather and lifestyle amenities, is a top choice for many affluent individuals due to its lack of income tax. This tax advantage would have benefitted Joshua, who faced substantial UK tax liabilities on his earnings and profits from his company, Sparta Promotions.

Joshua’s decision follows similar moves by celebrities like Rio Ferdinand and Kate Ferdinand, who shared their experiences of living in Dubai during the US-Iran conflict. Despite the challenging circumstances, the couple reassured their followers of their safety and the government’s efforts in ensuring security in the region. The UAE continues to attract high-profile individuals like Joshua, joining the ranks of other notable figures such as Amir Khan and Lindsey Lohan who have chosen to make Dubai their home.
