“Asda Driver’s Disability Insult Leads to Four-Figure Compensation”

A man who felt humiliated by comments allegedly made by an Asda delivery driver has been compensated with a four-figure sum. Necati Ayhan, residing on Lord Street in Southport town center, received his groceries on October 31. The 22-year-old, living with fibromyalgia, autism, and other health issues, explained to the driver that his disabilities prevented him from assisting in carrying the goods upstairs.

During the delivery, Necati overheard the driver muttering a derogatory remark about his disability and later confronted the driver, who responded insensitively. The situation escalated, leading Necati to request the return of his shopping.

Following the incident, Necati traveled to the Central 12 store to file a formal complaint and was compensated with a £30 voucher for his travel expenses. Despite initial uncertainty about the complaint’s outcome, Necati was later informed that the driver had left the company after disciplinary actions.

As a gesture of acknowledgment, Asda provided Necati with a four-figure settlement regarding the incident. When approached for a statement, a spokesperson for the supermarket chain declined to comment. Reflecting on the ordeal, Necati expressed feeling degraded and embarrassed by the driver’s actions, emphasizing the impact on his well-being.
