Addressing the gathered audience before signing the bill, Trump emphasized the value of whole milk regardless of political affiliation. The legislation overturned previous restrictions on higher-fat milk options that were implemented during the Obama administration. The new law also permits schools to serve non-dairy milk meeting milk standards and mandates offering non-dairy alternatives for students with dietary restrictions.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a proponent of including whole milk in school menus, hailed the new law as a necessary correction to school nutrition policies. The revised regulations will impact around 30 million students enrolled in the National School Lunch Program.
