“Tyler Mislawchuk Wins Bronze at World Triathlon Championship”

Canada’s Tyler Mislawchuk clinched a bronze medal at the World Triathlon Championship Series event held in Weihai, China over the weekend. Hailing from Oak Bluff, Manitoba, the 32-year-old completed the race in one hour, 41 minutes, and 25 seconds. The gold medal was secured by Switzerland’s Max Studer with a time of 1:41:08, while Spain’s David Campero Del Campo finished ahead of Mislawchuk by seven seconds to claim the silver.

Mislawchuk began with a strong 1.5-kilometer swim, finishing in 18:39, followed by a 38.6-kilometer bike course in 51:53. He then concluded the final leg, a 10-kilometer run, in 29:35. Expressing his excitement, Mislawchuk stated, “It’s been seven years of hard work and close calls, but nothing compares to standing on the WTCS podium among the world’s top athletes. I seized an opportunity today and made a move three kilometers into the run. Throughout the last five kilometers, I reminded myself that this is the daily training payoff. It’s a great feeling to perform at this elite level.”

Unfortunately, fellow Canadian Liam Donnelly did not complete the race. In the women’s category, Canada’s Desirae Ridenour secured an eighth-place finish for the second consecutive season, matching her career-best performance. The 26-year-old from Cowichan Bay, British Columbia, finished all three segments in a total time of 1:50:58. France’s Cassandre Beaugrand claimed the gold medal with an impressive time of 1:49:20, followed by Great Britain’s Beth Potter in second place at 1:49:26, and Germany’s Lisa Tertsch in third at 1:49:44. Emy Legault from L’Île Perrot, Quebec, secured the 30th position with a time of 1:55:54.
