Tiger Woods has entered a plea of no contest to a charge of reckless driving in Florida. The renowned golfer had previously pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving under the influence. The incident occurred when Woods’ SUV collided with a truck and overturned on a residential road in Jupiter Island. Law enforcement discovered two pain pills in his possession and noted signs of impairment. Despite testing negative on a Breathalyzer, Woods declined to undergo a urine test.
The 50-year-old athlete appeared in a Martin County courtroom, accompanied by his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, the former daughter-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump. Fortunately, neither Woods nor the other party involved in the collision sustained injuries. However, his Land Rover caused approximately $5,000 in damages to the truck. Woods explained to authorities that he was distracted by his phone and adjusting the radio at the time of the accident.
While Woods is a prominent figure in the world of golf, his career has faced setbacks due to various surgeries, car accidents, and reliance on pain medication. He has been involved in four accidents to date, prompting him to take breaks from competitive play. Woods has yet to make a return to tournament action following the most recent incident.
