Siobhan Finneran, known for her role in Happy Valley, has provided insight into her relationship with Don Gilet, the Death in Paradise actor. The two first met while working together on ITV’s crime drama The Loch, where Siobhan portrayed DCI Lauren Quigley and Don played the role of forensic psychologist Blake Albrighton.
Their professional connection blossomed into a romantic relationship in 2018. However, Siobhan resides in Saddleworth, while Don lives in north London. Despite the distance, Siobhan mentions that they manage well, especially since Don is often away filming Death in Paradise in Guadeloupe for seven months a year.
In an interview with The Times, Siobhan explained that their separate living arrangements have always been the norm for them due to Don’s filming commitments. She also shared that she has visited the beautiful French Caribbean island where Don works.
Siobhan dismissed any claims of them being a “power couple,” emphasizing that they are just regular individuals struggling to organize their daily routines. She revealed that their relationship became public after she affectionately referred to Don as “my fella” in a conversation with The Guardian.
Don is gearing up to reprise his role as DI Mervin Wilson in the Death in Paradise Christmas Special, featuring guest stars Josie Lawrence, Kate Ashfield, Pearl Mackie, and James Baxter. The special is scheduled to air on Sunday, 28th December at 8.30 pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
