A recent photograph has surfaced revealing the aftermath of a vicious assault on an elderly man while he was out walking his dog.
Jeff Zimmerman, aged 71, was subjected to a severe beating by an unknown assailant as he strolled with his pet in his Phoenix, Arizona, neighborhood in the US. The attack was halted by a courageous couple who intervened and physically removed the attacker.
The elderly man, a survivor of a brain tumor for 16 years, sustained severe head trauma, multiple fractures, and eye injuries during the assault. He was initially treated in an intensive care unit and has now been moved to a trauma facility for ongoing monitoring.
Jeff’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $40,000 (£29,000) to cover his medical expenses, expressing particular concern about his eyesight due to pre-existing vision issues from his brain condition.
His family described him as enduring “immense pain” and facing a challenging recovery journey ahead.
In a heartfelt message on the fundraising platform, Jeff’s daughter Kiera shared, “As my dad approaches his 72nd birthday on January 2, instead of celebrating, he is fighting for recovery.”
She added, “For those who know me, my dad is my closest companion. Despite battling a brain tumor for 16 years with surgeries and treatments, he has never let it define him.”
“Despite enduring chronic headaches, vision challenges, and balance issues, he remains a source of joy and inspiration to many,” she continued.
All contributions will go towards covering his medical expenses, rehabilitation, vision treatments
