“Cardiologist Urges Congress to Assess Trump’s Mental Fitness”

A heart specialist who previously managed medical treatment for former Vice President Dick Cheney has called on Congress to examine President Donald Trump’s mental capacity. Dr. Jonathan Reiner, an experienced cardiologist and well-known figure, justified his request by highlighting public statements and communications from the president that he believes warrant serious attention.

This appeal followed Trump’s recent release of a statement to European leaders outlining his personal perspectives on America’s foreign policy objectives. In a new letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Trump connected his failure to secure the Nobel Peace Prize to his political aspirations concerning Greenland.

In the letter, Trump expressed his viewpoint that since he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in ending wars, he no longer feels compelled to focus solely on peace but can now prioritize what is beneficial for the United States. He emphasized the importance of Greenland’s annexation for global security and asserted that NATO should reciprocate his contributions by supporting the U.S.

Dr. Reiner reacted to this correspondence by suggesting it should raise concerns, advocating for a bipartisan congressional investigation into the president’s fitness for office. He also criticized Trump’s recent actions, including endorsing a primary challenger to Senator Bill Cassidy.

Concerns about Trump’s health and ability to govern have been ongoing. Earlier this year, Dr. Reiner refuted Trump’s comments regarding his health regimen, particularly his use of aspirin. He explained that anticoagulant medications do not “thin” the blood but rather reduce clotting risks.

Despite Trump’s assertions of good health, supported by his physician Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, who confirmed regular scans show no abnormalities, doubts persist regarding his overall well-being and fitness for duty.
