“Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame Welcomes Class of 2026”

The 2026 induction ceremony for the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame featured notable figures such as Jamaal Magloire, Dave Smart, and Miranda Ayim. Magloire, a former NBA player, made history as the first Canadian to play for the Toronto Raptors and was an NBA All-Star in 2004. Currently, he holds the position of vice-president for the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

Smart, renowned for his coaching prowess, led the Carleton Ravens men’s team to an impressive 13 U Sports championships, solidifying their status as a dominant force in collegiate basketball. Ayim, a key figure in Canada’s senior women’s national team, also had the honor of carrying the country’s flag alongside Nathan Hirayama at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

The class of 2026, unveiled on July 2, includes other distinguished members such as Michael Meeks, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, Teresa Kleindienst, Peter (Doc) Ryan, Janice Deakin, and Dr. Andrew Pipe. This 10-member class will be officially inducted at a ceremony in St. Stephen, N.B.
