Blockbuster romance writer Carley Fortune has disclosed that her sixth book, “Only in Summer,” is set to launch on May 18, 2027. Taking readers back to the familiar Barry’s Bay, Ont., the backdrop of her prior works “Every Summer After” and “One Golden Summer,” the novel revisits the town where she grew up.
In a recent newsletter announcement, Fortune shared her excitement about purchasing a lakeside cottage near Barry’s Bay before commencing work on the new book. The protagonist of “Only in Summer,” Eleanor Florek, known as Ellie, shares a similar ambition of owning property in Barry’s Bay, where she spent her childhood. Ellie’s plans take an unexpected turn when the house next door is torn down to make way for a lavish mansion.
Fortune, a writer and journalist based in Toronto, has an impressive editorial background with Refinery29, The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, and Toronto Life. Her previous publications include “Our Perfect Storm,” “One Golden Summer,” “Every Summer After,” “This Summer Will Be Different,” and “Meet Me at the Lake.” “Meet Me at the Lake” was a notable contender on Canada Reads 2024, supported by fashion influencer Mirian Njoh, marking the first romance novel to be featured on the program.
