Alanis Morissette has taken legal action against her former tour manager, accusing her of engaging in a premeditated blackmail scheme to implicate Morissette in drug trafficking unless Morissette agreed to hire her on a long-term contract. The lawsuit, filed in California, alleges that Keren Urinov threatened to report Morissette to British authorities for drug-related offenses unless Morissette employed her as a tour director for 15 years and provided substantial compensation.
Urinov, who previously worked for Live Nation in Israel, was hired as a temporary tour manager for Morissette’s global tour in 2025. Allegedly, during a trip from the UK to Spain for a concert, Urinov was arrested by British authorities at the airport after a bag she claimed ownership of was flagged for containing marijuana and an animal tranquilizer. Urinov was released after showing her Israeli medical marijuana license.
Following the tour, Urinov allegedly sent a series of threatening letters to Morissette, demanding a long-term contract with increasing pay and bonuses, as well as assistance in obtaining a work visa for the United States. The lawsuit also details instances where Urinov’s management of the tour was deemed inadequate, including a costly error with a hotel booking and misleading information about her past criminal record.
Morissette asserts that she was left with no choice but to take legal action against Urinov to expose the blackmail scheme and seek accountability. The lawsuit emphasizes Morissette’s refusal to be coerced into working with an incompetent blackmailer and her request for a jury trial. Requests for comments from Urinov and Morissette’s representatives have not yet been answered.
