“Late Equalizer Saves Forge FC in Canadian Championship Semifinal”

Forge FC managed to secure a 1-1 draw against FC Supra du Quebec in the Canadian Championship semifinal’s first leg thanks to Daniel Krutzen’s late equalizer in the 95th minute at Stade Boreale on Tuesday night. Supra took the lead through Ibrahim Conde, but their struggles to close out games were evident once again.

Supra head coach Nick Razzaghi expressed mixed feelings about the result, acknowledging the team’s character and defensive solidity but also lamenting the missed opportunity to secure victory. The two teams, having faced each other in a recent Canadian Premier League match, made significant changes to their lineups for this encounter.

Forge, a consistent force in the Canadian Championship semifinals, adjusted their game after a slow start and displayed their quality against Supra. Coach Bobby Smyrniotis emphasized the importance of avoiding complacency and highlighted the competitive nature of the tournament.

The draw sets up an intriguing second leg in Hamilton, where Forge has a strong record at home. Despite Supra taking the lead in the 36th minute, Forge responded well, creating chances and putting pressure on the Supra defense. Krutzen’s last-minute heroics salvaged a crucial draw for Forge, setting up an exciting return leg on September 15.
