Atlético Madrid has officially secured a loan deal for Canadian forward Jonathan David from Juventus in Italy for the upcoming season. The 26-year-old hailing from Ottawa had a notable season with Juventus, playing in 46 matches and scoring eight goals, along with an additional appearance at the beginning of this season.
David will be vying for playing time in Madrid alongside Julián Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth, who have been sidelined due to a muscle injury. He had a successful stint with Lille in France, scoring 109 goals in 232 games and claiming titles in Ligue 1 and the French Super Cup before his move to Juventus in 2025.
As Canada’s leading men’s scorer with 42 goals to his name, David will also be connecting with his hometown team, Atlético Ottawa, in the Canadian Premier League. Atlético Madrid’s upcoming fixtures include matches against Athletic Club on Saturday and a clash with Liverpool in the Champions League on September 9.
