Netflix has announced a forthcoming three-part docuseries titled “The One About Matthew Perry,” aiming to provide a more comprehensive look at the life of the Canadian-born actor. The series will delve into Perry’s journey from an up-and-coming comedy talent to his iconic role on the NBC sitcom. It will feature exclusive insights from close associates, including lifelong friends and his sister Mia Perry Bowick, a grief specialist who has openly shared her emotional journey following Perry’s demise.
Bowick expressed her readiness to reveal personal memories and reflect on the complexities of Perry’s life beyond his on-screen persona as Chandler and his battle with addiction. Perry tragically passed away at the age of 54 due to a ketamine overdose in his home. Several individuals have pleaded guilty to charges related to supplying him with the substance, with Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who sold Perry ketamine, currently appealing his 30-month prison sentence.
Netflix assures that the docuseries will not only showcase fond remembrances of Perry but also shed light on his private struggles, aiming to honor his legacy of transparency and advocacy. The series is set to premiere on October 27.
