“Deadly Israeli Attack Sparks Fear and Displacement in Lebanon”

In southern Lebanon, a recent Israeli attack resulted in the deaths of at least 11 individuals, as reported by the country’s health ministry. This incident marked the deadliest assault following a fragile ceasefire agreement in June, aimed at ending hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, despite ongoing attacks.

Aside from airstrikes and drone strikes, local residents and emergency responders have accused Israeli forces of deliberately initiating wildfires that have been ravaging homes, forests, and olive groves in the troubled region. The situation has instilled fear among the populace about their ability to remain in the area and raised concerns about the prospects of hundreds of thousands of war-displaced individuals ever returning.

Will Christou, a correspondent for The Guardian stationed in Beirut, has been covering the wildfires and the broader Israeli operations in southern Lebanon.
