“Beauty Bay Faces Potential Collapse, Initiates Administration Process”

Beauty Bay, an online cosmetics retailer, is facing potential collapse as it has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators. This step indicates the company’s readiness to enter administration, triggering a temporary legal halt that prevents creditors from pursuing legal actions for ten days. The notice was lodged earlier this week, with Beauty Bay temporarily shutting down its website and displaying a message stating, “We’ll Be Back Soon. BEAUTY BAY is offline right now, we’ll be back shortly.”

Founded in 1999 by brothers Arron and David Gabbie and headquartered in Manchester, Beauty Bay offers over 200 brands on its platform, including popular names like Ariana Grande, Clinique, and MAC, alongside its own product line. Recent reports had suggested that Beauty Bay was exploring various funding options, potentially including a complete sale of the business.

Interpath, an advisory firm, has been collaborating with Beauty Bay to review its operations. The company currently employs 65 staff members. In a related development, fashion retailer Quiz has also fallen into administration, resulting in the loss of 109 jobs. Quiz’s redundancies are affecting its Glasgow head office and Lanarkshire warehouse, with the company ceasing refunds and advising customers to seek reimbursement through their banks or credit card providers, subject to specific regulations like Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act or Chargeback.

Quiz’s website has been taken offline, but its stores remain operational, offering clearance sales across all branches. However, gift cards are no longer being accepted at Quiz outlets. With 40 stores across the UK and concessions in New Look and Matalan stores, Quiz’s concessions within New Look and Matalan are not part of the administration proceedings.
