“GP Fakes Appointments to Juggle Parenting and Work”

A physician who fabricated in-person appointments to accommodate her school run schedule has been prohibited from providing medical care. Dr. Helen Eisenhauer, a mother of two, concocted face-to-face meetings to avoid being late for her children’s pick up time. She invented these appointments after already conducting phone consultations with the patients earlier in the day.

Dr. Eisenhauer’s scheme was uncovered when a colleague at Stenhouse Medical Centre in Arnold, Notts, noticed irregularities in her scheduling and confronted her. It was revealed that she not only falsified appointments but also blocked her calendar in the late afternoon to evade seeing other patients.

Initially denying any wrongdoing, the GP later confessed to the General Medical Council and received a five-month suspension for professional misconduct. During the tribunal, she admitted to deceiving the booking system due to stress from sleep deprivation caused by her parenting duties.

Acknowledging her lapse in integrity, Dr. Eisenhauer expressed remorse for her actions and stated that she has since improved her ability to balance her family responsibilities and work commitments. She emphasized the importance of honesty in both personal and professional life and the negative impact of dishonest behavior on public trust in the medical profession.

Katie Jones of the GMC criticized Dr. Eisenhauer for her reckless dishonesty, which jeopardized patient safety and undermined collaborative efforts among colleagues. Neil Dalton, Chairman of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service, condemned her disregard for professional standards, patient safety, and honesty in her interactions with colleagues. He highlighted how her actions compromised the integrity of the system designed to safeguard public well-being and prioritized her self-interest over patient care.
