Michael Ryan Burke, aged 42, was reportedly involved in a routine sale that escalated into a robbery, culminating in a fatal shooting. In a distressing final call to law enforcement, Burke provided descriptions of the alleged assailants before bidding a heartbreaking farewell to his family.
Law enforcement authorities in Columbia, Missouri, have apprehended three 18-year-olds and a male juvenile, charging them with murder in connection to the shocking event. Burke was shot inside his home and succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital.
Alexis Baumann, 18, faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and first-degree burglary, while Kobe Aust, also 18, has been arrested for similar charges. Joseph Crane, 18, has been detained on multiple charges, including second-degree murder, armed criminal action, robbery, burglary, and weapon misuse. Additionally, a male juvenile has been taken into custody on charges mirroring those of the other suspects.
A close friend of Burke named Jerry Reifeiss, who met the victim through a university fraternity, recounted Burke’s final moments in a poignant interview. The tragic incident follows a separate criminal case involving a disguised contract killer who posed as a Deliveroo rider, resulting in the shooting of an eight-year-old girl and her father. Jazz Reid, the perpetrator, was sentenced to 38 years in prison for the heinous act.
