EE has unveiled an upgraded version of its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing prevalence of scams targeting mobile users. This enhancement, priced at £2 per month for all EE pay-monthly mobile subscribers, aims to provide improved protection against cyber threats, which have resulted in significant financial losses across the UK.
Since its initial launch in 2024, EE’s Scam Guard has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the new iteration of the service, EE anticipates doubling the prevention of fraudulent activities over the next year.
The enhanced Scam Guard now features AI Triple-Lock Protection, a set of advanced security measures powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine. These include Safe Email for proactive email scam detection, Safe SMS for identifying fraudulent text messages, and Safe Web for shielding customers from malicious online content.
Additionally, the upgraded service introduces Scam Assistant, enabling users to receive instant feedback on the safety of various digital communications by uploading screenshots. Furthermore, Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring functionalities have been integrated to alert customers of any suspicious online behavior promptly.
Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile at EE, emphasized the importance of staying ahead of evolving fraud tactics, stating, “As threats evolve, we continue to adapt as the UK’s best network, constantly seeking new and innovative ways to protect and support our customers.” The company remains committed to enhancing cybersecurity measures and providing customers with robust defense mechanisms against cyber threats.
