Starmer Condemns Trump’s “Piggy” Remark

Keir Starmer faced questions regarding Donald Trump’s offensive “piggy” remark directed at a female reporter aboard Air Force One last month. During an appearance on ITV’s program Loose Women, the Prime Minister expressed his disapproval of the language used by Trump, emphasizing that he would not tolerate such behavior towards his daughter or colleagues.

The incident involved Mr. Trump rudely addressing Bloomberg’s Catherine Lucey as “Quiet! Quiet, piggy” when she questioned him while traveling to Washington on Air Force One in November. Lucey had inquired about his association with Jeffrey Epstein, as revealed in emails released by Congress recently.

In the Loose Women segment, Myleene Klass asked Mr. Starmer his stance on allowing someone to address his family or colleagues in a similar disrespectful manner. Starmer firmly stated he would not accept such behavior. When prompted if he viewed the incident as misogyny, he affirmed his commitment to calling out such behavior and educating individuals on recognizing problematic conduct.

The discussion with Starmer coincided with the government’s launch of a significant strategy to combat violence against women and girls. Responding to inquiries about misogyny in Westminster, Starmer acknowledged its presence not only in politics but also across society, emphasizing the widespread nature of the issue.

Home Office minister Jess Phillips, leading the strategy, outlined various measures to address the problem, including stringent regulations to limit children’s exposure to harmful online content and misogynistic influences. She announced plans to ban “nudification” tools and collaborate with technology companies to implement measures preventing children from creating, viewing, or sharing nude images through advanced filters.
