“US Mother Extradited from UK, Charged in Children’s Deaths”

A mother suspected of causing the deaths of her two young children amid a custody dispute with her former spouse has been sent back to the United States from the UK.

Kimberlee Singler, aged 37, is set to appear in court facing charges that include two counts of first-degree homicide, as stated by District Attorney Michael Allen based in Colorado Springs. Following the tragic incident where her nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son were found deceased in their Colorado Springs residence, while her 11-year-old daughter survived with injuries, Singler was apprehended in London on December 30, 2023.

Singler was taken into custody at a central London hotel. Reports from UK court documents reveal that the surviving daughter mentioned that her mother attributed the act to a divine directive. Subsequently, Singler was extradited back to the US on December 23.

Initially claiming that an intruder was responsible for the incident and sustaining minor knife wounds, Singler was considered a victim by law enforcement. However, the daughter’s account changed, leading to Singler being sought for arrest on December 26, 2023, although she had already left the country by then.

She was located in Chelsea, London, four days later and detained. On December 23, 2025, she was brought back to the US through extradition.

Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez expressed the significance of this development in the investigation, emphasizing the impact of Singler’s alleged actions on the community and the victims.

Singler will remain in custody pending a preliminary hearing to determine if there is adequate evidence to proceed to trial, according to Mr. Allen. The 13-year-old surviving child is expected to play a crucial role as a witness in the upcoming trial.

Facing additional charges of attempted murder, child abuse, and assault, Singler’s defense in London argued against extradition, citing concerns over the potential life sentence without parole she could face in Colorado. Despite legal efforts, her challenge was rejected, and she is slated to face trial for the tragic events that unfolded in December 2023.

The court documents also reveal Singler’s claims about her ex-husband’s alleged intentions, though police evidence indicated he was elsewhere during the incident. The sequence of events leading to the tragedy involved a court order for the children’s custody exchange, which ultimately ended in a devastating outcome.

As the case progresses, further details regarding the prosecution’s strategy and evidence are expected to unfold, with the involvement of federal and local authorities from the US and the UK in ensuring Singler’s return for legal proceedings.
