“Toronto Raptors to Retire Kyle Lowry’s Jersey No. 7 in Historic Ceremony”

The Toronto Raptors have announced that they will retire Kyle Lowry’s jersey number, No. 7, during a ceremony following their game against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 10th. Lowry will join Vince Carter as the second player in Raptors history to receive this honor at Scotiabank Arena.

At 40 years old, Lowry retired in July after a remarkable 20-year career in the NBA, signing a one-day contract with Toronto. Expressing his excitement, Lowry stated, “I’ve always considered Toronto my home and promised to retire as a Raptor. Seeing my No. 7 jersey raised in the arena holds immense significance for me.”

Reflecting on his time with the team, Lowry acknowledged the special bond created with his teammates, the organization, the city, and the fans, including those across Canada. Together, they achieved the historic milestone of winning the NBA championship in 2019. Lowry expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate this achievement with his loved ones and the Raptors community.

During his nine seasons with the Raptors, Lowry made significant contributions, leading the team in assists, steals, and three-pointers. As a six-time NBA All-Star, he leaves a lasting legacy in Toronto’s basketball history.
