The Ottawa Redblacks have set a new record for the longest losing streak in the modern era of the CFL. Their 15th consecutive loss occurred on Friday night against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, surpassing the previous record held by the Shreveport Pirates in 1994.
Steve Daniel, a CFL historian and the league’s associate vice-president of football analytics and statistics, confirmed that Ottawa now holds the modern-day record for the longest losing streak. The team’s current losing streak is also the third-longest in the entire CFL record book, dating back to 1907.
