“Minnesota Frost Re-Sign Olympic Gold Medalist Kendall Coyne Schofield”

The Minnesota Frost have secured captain Kendall Coyne Schofield for another two years by signing her to a new contract, dispelling any speculation about the 34-year-old taking a break following her recent Olympic gold medal win with the United States in February.

This renewal ensures that the Frost will maintain their veteran leadership core heading into their fourth season, which has been consistent since claiming consecutive Walter Cup championships in 2024 and ’25. Alongside Coyne Schofield, alternate captains Lee Stecklein and Kelly Pannek complete this experienced group.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the upcoming seasons, Coyne Schofield stated, “We’re excited to continue for the next two seasons and are eager for Season 4. I am determined to work hard and strive to bring the Walter Cup back to Minnesota.”

Originally from the Chicago area, Coyne Schofield boasts an impressive resume as a four-time Olympian and two-time gold medalist. She also played a pivotal role in the establishment of the PWHL during the summer of 2023.

During the previous season, Coyne Schofield tallied 12 goals and 23 points across 23 games, despite missing seven due to an upper-body injury sustained at the Milan-Cortina Games. Her career statistics of 63 points (30 goals, 33 assists) in 77 PWHL games rank her third on the league’s all-time list.

As one of the Frost’s inaugural foundational players, Coyne Schofield’s future on the team was uncertain earlier, as she had not been re-signed and was left exposed during the PWHL’s expansion process in June.

Currently, the Frost have inked contracts with 17 players, including eight members of their championship squads. The team concluded last season in third place and was eliminated in a pivotal Game 5 of the semifinals by eventual champions Montreal.
