ICE Agent Shoots Minneapolis Man During Pursuit

Minneapolis experienced further unrest as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot a person, following the recent tragic killing of Renee Good. The incident occurred when a federal officer shot a man in the leg during a pursuit of an individual described as an “illegal alien from Venezuela” by Homeland Security. The man attempted to evade arrest by fleeing on foot after crashing into a car during the chase.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), two individuals from a nearby apartment intervened to assist the man, prompting the ICE agent to perceive an ambush and react by shooting one person in the leg. The injured man was promptly taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the ICE agent also received medical attention for his injuries.

Minneapolis authorities confirmed the shooting and stated that the FBI was conducting an investigation. Mayor Jacob Frey criticized ICE for causing disruptions in Minnesota, amidst growing local outrage against the agency’s actions. The incident came in the wake of the controversial killing of Renee Good by ICE agent Jonathan Ross, fueling protests against ICE’s tactics and the Trump administration’s response.

Protests erupted following the shooting, with reports of federal agents using tear gas against demonstrators in Minneapolis. The deployment of around 3,000 ICE officers to the city in recent weeks has further fueled tensions. Images from the scene captured emotional moments as protesters clashed with law enforcement, highlighting the escalating unrest in Minneapolis.
